The Pride of Baltimore II, a replica 1812 privateer topsail schooner, embarked on a five-month goodwill voyage to promote Star-Spangled 200, Maryland's upcoming War of 1812 bicentennial commemoration. The voyage took the Pride to dozens of port cities in the U.S. and Canada, including Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. The complete sailing schedule is below.

Information about the voyyage can be found on our news page or the ship's blog, or Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Pride II is a replica of the Chasseur, one of the most famous of the American privateers commanded by Captain Thomas Boyle. In 1814, Boyle sailed east to the British Isles and successfully harassed the British merchant fleet. In a characteristically audacious act, he sent a notice to the King by way of a captured merchant vessel that was posted on the door of Lloyd's of London, the famous shipping underwriters. The note declared that the entire British Isles were under naval blockade by Chasseur alone! This affront sent the shipping community into panic and caused the Admiralty to call vessels home from the American war to guard merchant ships which had to sail in convoys. In all, Chasseur captured or sank 17 vessels before returning home. On Chasseur's triumphal return to Baltimore on March 25, 1815, the Niles Weekly Register dubbed the ship, her captain, and crew the "pride of Baltimore" for their daring exploits (From www.pride 2.org).
