In addition to the hundreds of bicentennial programs and events during the commemoration period, the Maryland War of 1812 Commission and Star-Spangled 200, Inc. will be sponsoring a dozen signature events. Five of the events are listed below.

From Enemies to Allies Conference U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland June 12- 15, 2013
To recognize and celebrate two centuries of peace between the U.S., Great Britain and Canada following the War of 1812, the U.S. Naval Academy will be home to an international academic conference including programs for the general public. An exhibit, featuring the iconic Don’t Give Up the Ship flag, the British Royal standard taken from Fort York (Toronto) and other War of 1812 symbols from Great Britain, Canada and the United States will be displayed.

Chesapeake Campaign Various Sites throughout the Chesapeake April 2013 - September 2014
Dozens of Maryland Communities aroudn the Bay share a national story of triumph, which began April 1813, when the British began their assault at the head of the Bay and climaxed September, 1814, shortly after the burning of the nation's Capital with the dramatic, successful defense of Baltimore. The story of Maryland's fight for the nation will be celebrated through the Chesapeake Campaign, a traveling festival featuring re-enactors, hands-on educational activities, performance, food, drink and interactive fun along the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail.

Star-Spangled Spectacular 2014 Baltimore, Maryland Sept. 5–14, 2014
A star-spangled commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore and the "Star-Spangled Banner," featuring Francis Scott Key’s immortal manuscript, will take place in Baltimore. Festivities kick off on September 6, 2014, with the annual Defenders’ Day event at North Point. A ten-day long celebration featuring re-enactments, fireworks, parades, and a maritime festival will conclude with a televised event at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. |

2011 Pride Sail East Coast and Great Lake region May- Nov. 2011
The Pride of Baltimore II will be embarking on a goodwill voyage starting Memorial Day weekend 2011 to promote the upcoming War of 1812 bicentennial commemoration. The voyage will take the Pride to 25 port cities in the U.S. and Canada. |

Star-Spangled Sailabration
Forty-six ships from 12 nations sailed into Baltimore to launch Star-Spangled Sailabration. The week included free tours of the vessels, an air show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the premiere of a new symphony "Overture for 1812" and landside festivities. Sailabration was the national launch of the War of 1812 bicentennial and the kick-off of a three-year commemoration in Maryland. More than 1.5 million people enjoyed this week-long event!
